Roof damage from wind shear was denied. Every home on my street was subject to this wind damage and received a new roof from their insurance company except mine. I was the only one insured by Brethren

we were hit by someone with brethren mutual insurance and I can't tell you what a wonderful experience it was. Within 10 days, the adjuster was out, appointments were made, repairs made and the car was done. They paid for everything and all I heard from the repair shop and the rental car place was that they are easy to deal with. This is the 2nd time I have had to deal with this car and the other insurance company took over a month to even get a statement from the party who hit me

LIARS AND CHEATS

HAD HOUSE FIRE FULL REPLACEMENT COST. REFUSED TO REPLACE CEILING FANS AND WALL SWITCH PLATES. TRIED TO REBUILD ON BURNT FLOOR JOIST. HAD TO LIVE IN CAMPER OVER 1 YR. AND 4 MONTHS AS THEY WOULD NOT GIVE PERMISSION TO REMOVE BRUNT HOUSE AND START BUILDING NEW HOUSE, LOST ALL.....CALL ME i CAN TELL YOU SO MUCH , AND THE ADJUSTOR AND THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE MY GARAGE ROOF AND CONTENTS HAD SAME KIND OF COVERAGE , HA HA.. ADJUSTER SAID THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT THAT WAS APRIL 2018 ON JULY 17, 2018 LETTER WE ARE NOT FIXING IT`````````. WHAT``````````NO ANSWER. I HAD COVERAGE THESE PEOPLE AND AGENTS AND GREG MYERS ADJUSTER ARE LIARS... THEY CANCELLED MY POLICY,,,DEC. 2018 CAUSE THEY SAID i DIDN'T FIX ROOF IN TIME, WHAT THE HELL...THEY WILL NOT GO TO HEAVEN THAT IS FOR SURE < i HOPE NOT.. i AM GOING TO BETTER BUSINESS ON THIS SOON AS i CAN, NOW i HAVE TO BUY INSURANCE i CANT' AFFORD.. AND AT THE END OF INS. CO.. THEY STATE BAD RISK DONT INSURE ME, REALLY WELL THAT IS WHY THEY HAVE LAWSUITS, THIS CO. AND AGENT FOR HOCKLEY AND O DONNELL IN GETTYSBURG pA. Incompetent company

United Brethrem insurance has great rates but terrible customer service. When calling in to make a payment or even speak to someone, customers are left on hold forever. As someone who only gets a 30 minute lunch, this is ridiculous. I called on a Ftiday at noon to make my payment and was told my card would be run, however to my surprise- the card was never run that day! I called back Monday, and could not get through. I finally emailed on Monday morning and was told the card would be run after 1pm on Monday. At that point the card declined, but no one called or emailed to let ke know!!! When I asked about this two days later, I was told 'they were busy', and ' don't have enough people' This is horrible customer service in my opinion. I don't see how they can run a business like this! Very disappointed!!

New homeowner's policy

Bought a new policy, and paid in full for first year. After they got payment they sent an inspector to the property. Got a letter that has three changes, that must be done in 18 days, or risk cancellation. Trees all around my house MAY cause a problem. Must cut back or down and send paid receipts showing work done. Deck has furniture and a BBQ grill, which is used year round, should be stored in secured storage. Will not fit in storage shed! Highly recommend address be on the mailbox. The USPS only requires house numbers be there.

Blamed me for their clients accident

A client of Brethren Mutual crossed the center line on a rural country road. Despite my best to avoid him, I collided with his vehicle. Brethren claimed it was MY fault, and that I could have done better to avoid him. They even measured the distance between his vehicle and the guardrail and said that I had room to pass through. These accusations were in a very rude and unprofessional letter that was dated 1 day BEFORE their claims agent showed up unannounced to my house for my statement. Their mind was made up before my statement was taken. Lucky for me, they sent a very poor lawyer to defend their client when I sued him for all damages and medical bills. I won all of my losses, less the lawyers fees. Avoid this company as a client, and fight them if you are a victim! They should be shut down!

Thieves at work

Brethren Insurance took my payments for years, but when I filed a claim against my homeowners policy, they accused me of lying and refused to pay my claim. They claimed my policy had ended on a Friday at 2:30pm after my agent and I had purposely extended it two months earlier in case of problems with the move. Brethren will do anything to avoid paying a claim. My home had been sold and the new owners claimed that in violation of MD law, they bought the contents of my home even though it was not listed on my contract. The new owners stole my possessions and sold them to an antiques in Hagerstown. Brethren had all the details and yet they did nothing. It seems like Brethren only hires family to work in positions of responsibility and they don't follow insurance rules as set by State Law of MD.

Brethren Mutual Insurance Auto Insurance Review from Edgewood, Maryland

My son just got his drivers license. 6 months ago they said when he got his license how the rates would go up an additional 1420 a year for basic insurance but when the bill came it was 2260 more a year and apologized for the over sight. I said quote me full coverage for both vehicles they said 5400 total called geico and it was only 1392 total for first 6 months that's 2,616 per year savings. Should have switched long time ago.

Called me a liar and told me nothing i could do

DONT GET BRETHREN MUTUAL INSURANCE, me and my daughter went blackberry picking at the top of an old driveway on our property. Coming back down the hill afterwards a rock rolled off the hill smacking my jeep in the side, and by the time I stopped the jeep it already scraped the fender, the tire, smashing the fender and laying on the back bumper. Being advised how comprehensive insurance works I filed the claim with brethren mutal. I received a call from an adjuster , being a truck driver I had to wait till I stopped to call him back. When I called back answered the phone and introduced himself, I started telling him my claim number when suddenly I heard " hang on" so I waited and as soon as he came back he said " I don't know who wrote this as a comp case because this would be considered a collision case". And after that I couldn't even tell him what happened all he could say is "yep this is collision". So I believe this conclusion was already made before the call was even made to me. Since then I have been told I am a liar, that I am in the wrong and it's the company's decision to do whatever they want and there's not much I can do about it. It even got so bad that Mr. Moore made the appraiser ride with me to the destination it happened. The appraiser looked at the rock and took photos, walked up the hill and without me saying, he said "this is where the rock came from" and took more photos. I am being advised that a rock didn't roll off of the hill that it was there before I got there and I ran into it. I am not blind; a rock that large is very easy to see. Since then my agent and I have contacted many supervisors with still no help all rude with no respect for their customers, even went so far to contact the president of the company who will not call me back and makes a supervisor call me back.

Obviously there was a lack of tact on the adjuster's part and the appraiser was an *** for wasting his time visiting the "scene" and even more so by his remark, but the fact remains it was a collision claim and was evident by your initial statement. The definition of Collision is collision of the vehicle with an object or vice-versa if from ground level and, of course, overturn of the vehicle.

If the rock was from the air such as kicked up by another vehicle or thrown, then it would be a Comprehensive claim.

I'm a Certified Insurance Counselor with 40+ years in the business. Most of the time insurance really do try to do the right thing so keep an open mind and listen to all the facts.

I had a similar experience with my Home Owners insurance.......If your thinking about buying insurance - even if Brethern is the best price - do yourself a favor and get another company. I can say that their customer service is sub-par, and no where near other companies.
